MEDIA ADVISORY: U.S. Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team to Practice, Scrimmage at Mizzou in Preparation for World Championships

WHAT: The U.S. men’s wheelchair basketball team will practice and scrimmage at the Mizzou Student Rec Complex in final preparation for the upcoming World Championships in Incheon, South Korea, July 5-14. The team is led by head coach Ron Lykins, who is also the head coach of the Mizzou wheelchair basketball team.
The team will be on the MU campus from June 27-July 1, with a scrimmage from 6-7:30 p.m. on July 1 that is free and open to the public. Media are invited to attend practice from 9-11:30 a.m. on June 30 and the scrimmage on July 1.
The U.S. men’s wheelchair basketball team includes some of the best men’s wheelchair basketball players in the country, including MU alumnus John Gilbert and current MU student Carter Arey. MU also is represented by Scott Meyer, an MU student and assistant coach for the Mizzou team, who serves as U.S. team leader and is responsible for operational and managerial duties for the team.
