WHAT: Science Café Columbia continues its mission to inspire informal, relaxed conversations about popular science topics. For this month’s topic “Attack of the Drones,” Taylor Glenn, adjunct professor of engineering in the College of Engineering at MU, will discuss consumer drones and how they can be used in science and commerce, as well as the controversies surrounding drone application and privacy.

An offshoot of an international movement started by PBS’ “NOVA,” Science Café is a grassroots forum that takes place in a neighborhood coffeehouse, library or bar. Meant to include members of the community who may not normally get involved in the science conversation, the Bond Life Science Center sponsors Science Café Columbia as a means of nurturing a two-way conversation between scientists and the public.

WHERE: Broadway Brewery, 816 E. Broadway, Columbia

WHEN: 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12

NOTE: This event is free and open to the public. For more information about Science Café, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/ScienceCafeColumbia.
