MEDIA ADVISORY: What Makes a Criminal? Internationally Renowned Psychologist Discusses “Neurocriminology: Neuroethical and Neurolegal Implications” at MU Saturday Morning Science

WHAT: This week’s Saturday Morning Science discussion at the University of Missouri features University of Pennsylvania psychology and criminology professor Adrian Raine. This talk is being held in conjunction with the MU’s 7th Annual Life Sciences and Society Symposium.

Scientific evidence has identified brain abnormalities common to antisocial and violent individuals. Raine will discuss the ethical and legal issues this knowledge raises for how society assigns responsibility for criminal behavior as well as how children with these abnormalities are treated.

WHO: Adrian Raine, Richard Perry University Professor in the Departments of Criminology, Psychiatry, and Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Adrian Raine is an internationally renowned expert in the emerging field of neurocriminology.
