MEDIA ADVISORY: “Space Bugs,” Topic of Next Saturday Morning Science

WHAT: Zero gravity has a big impact on the human body, but what effects does it have on microbes? To answer this question, Cheryl Nickerson, a professor at Arizona State University, has worked with NASA engineers and shuttle crews to launch some microbes into space. In a talk titled “Space Bugs, Vaccines, and Microbiology Research in Space Flight” at this week’s Saturday Morning Science, Nickerson will share her results from these studies and discuss how these “space bugs” are being used to improve vaccines on Earth.
Saturday Morning Science requires no scientific background or knowledge to attend. The event is free and open to the public.
