MEDIA ADVISORY: Presenter for MU “Cosmic Conversations” Series to Discuss Meteorites and Armageddon

WHAT: The November edition of the University of Missouri’s “Cosmic Conversations” lecture series will feature Alan Whittington, a professor of geological sciences at MU. Whittington will discuss the effects that asteroids, meteorites and comets have on Earth. His lecture “Armageddon: Meteorite Impacts” is geared toward elementary students; however, people of any age are welcome to attend.
The University of Missouri Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Arts and Science and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association host the annual lecture series, “Cosmic Conversations.”
Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of each month. Laws Observatory, an observatory deck on the fifth floor of the physics building, will be open after each lecture to view the stars.
