MEDIA ADVISORY: MU’s “Cosmic Conversations” Returns with Refurbished Telescope and Discussion of Instrument’s History

WHAT: The first “Cosmic Conversations,” of the spring semester will focus on telescopes. Valentine Germann will lead a discussion about telescopes. As part of his presentation, Germann will discuss the renovations to the University of Missouri Laws Observatory’s 16-inch telescope. The telescope was refurbished in December and January.

The MU Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Arts and Science and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association host the monthly lecture series.

Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of each month. Laws Observatory, an observatory deck on the fifth floor of the physics building, will be open after each lecture to view the stars.
