MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host Celebration of African-American Poet’s Work with Jazz, Poetry Readings and Discussions

WHAT: The faculty of the University of Missouri Department of English invites the public to a celebration and discussion of the life and work of poet Michael S. Harper.
For more than 42 years, Harper has created a body of work that has changed the way that African-American poetry is viewed.
The symposium will include panel presentations with 21 nationally renowned poets, conversation with Michael S. Harper, a poetry reading and a Friday night jazz poetry tribute with live music and featured poets.
