Mizzou Alumni Association Sets Membership Record
May 18th, 2011
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA) leaders have announced that the organization has reached a record number of members. As of this week, MAA has more than 42,100 members in the global alumni organization. Todd McCubbin, executive director of the MAA, believes this is an important milestone for both the alumni association and the university.
“The record is an exciting benchmark for the Mizzou Alumni Association and MU,” McCubbin said. “MAA membership is a great comprehensive way for alumni to support all things Mizzou and is a great indicator of alumni satisfaction and support. More members mean more support for programs and services that alumni value. MAA supports a broad range of campus entities, including every school and college, student scholarships, faculty research, and intercollegiate athletics.”
MAA membership is up nearly 5 percent from 2010 and nearly 20 percent from 2007. The goal of MAA is to make MU stronger by supporting the university’s best interests through programs that alumni value. The MAA awarded $280,000 in student scholarships in the 2010-11 year. The association has engaged more than 1,000 alumni volunteers around the globe to actively support the university, association, chapters and organizations.
Since 1853, the Mizzou Alumni Association has supported the best interests and traditions of Missouri’s flagship university and its alumni worldwide through advocacy, communication and volunteerism.
“MAA serves as the voice for 250,000 alumni worldwide and keeps “tigers” everywhere connected to each other and the university they love,” McCubbin said.
