Morrice Appointed Vice Provost for Enrollment Management

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Garnett Stokes announced today that Pelema I. Morrice, the chief enrollment officer at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Penn., has been named Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, effective Sept. 15.

“We are excited to have Pelema join the university,” Stokes said. “His experience will provide vision and leadership for Mizzou in attracting, enrolling, retaining and graduating students. I am thrilled to have him as a partner in strengthening Mizzou’s student success efforts.”

In his role as vice provost for enrollment management, Morrice will lead a division that includes Undergraduate Admissions, International Admissions, Financial Aid, the Missouri College Advising Corps, Student Information Systems, University Registrar and the Veterans Center.

“I am delighted to join the Mizzou family,” Morrice said. “The University of Missouri is an outstanding institution of distinction and a tremendous community. I look forward to serving the state of Missouri and partnering with all constituents to ensure a cohesive, holistic and collaborative approach to enrollment management.”

At Bryn Mawr, Morrice served as a member of the president’s cabinet and oversaw admissions for both undergraduate and graduate admissions, campus visits and events, financial aid, the registrar’s office, enrollment communications and enrollment management analytics. Morrice led initiatives to increase undergraduate applications and student retention at Bryn Mawr and secured endowment gifts for student financial aid.

Prior to his role at Bryn Mawr, Morrice served as an associate vice chancellor in the academic and student affairs division at the University of Nebraska Omaha where he also led initiatives to increase overall undergraduate enrollment and partnered on numerous retention based initiatives. Morrice received his doctoral degree in higher education from the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from San Jose State University.

Morrice is the author of the upcoming book “The Unchosen: Poverty, Opportunity and the American Community College.” He has presented at the American Educational Research Association and has been involved with multiple national associations, including the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the Consortium of Financing Higher Education and the Association for the Study of Higher Education.
