MU professor will lecture on the printing revolution

WHAT: The public is invited to the 6th annual 21st Century Corps of Discovery Lecture. A. Mark Smith, Curators’ Professor of History in the MU College of Arts and Science, will lead the lecture, “More Than Meets the Eye: What Made the ‘Printing Revolution’ Revolutionary” and discuss how the printing press transformed the way texts were read and assimilated in the 15th century.

The 21st Century Corps of Discovery Lecture features an MU faculty member to commemorate the contributions of the Lewis and Clark expedition and inspire the university community at the start of each academic year. The lecture series reinforces one of MU’s core values, “discovery,” and features the diversity of academics offered at the university.
