Calendar Item: MU Hosts Lecture on the Progress of Agricultural Productivity in the U.S.

John S. Boyer, E.I. Dupont Professor Emeritus of Marine Biosciences and director of the Marine Biology/Biochemistry program in the College of Marine Studies at the University of Delaware
WHAT: The public is invited to a life sciences lecture on the progress of agricultural productivity in the U.S. and the biological potential for productivity hosted by John Walker, professor of biological sciences and director of the University of Missouri Interdisciplinary Plant Group, and Robert Sharp, professor in the MU Division of Plant Sciences.
John S. Boyer, E.I. Dupont Professor Emeritus of Marine Biosciences and director of the Marine Biology/Biochemistry program in the College of Marine Studies at the University of Delaware, will discuss the validity of adapted crops.
WHO: Boyer has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences since 1990 and has received numerous science awards, including the Charles Reid Barnes Life Membership Award in the American Society of Plant Biologists. His research focuses on plant growth under saline or dehydrating conditions to understand how growth is inhibited and if it can be recovered. He has also experimented with marine plants and agronomic species.

WHEN: 3:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 28. There will be a light reception before the lecture starting at 3 p.m.
