CALENDAR ITEM: The Fate of the Universe
MU professor will discuss physics in the cosmos for this month’s astronomical lecture series

WHAT: The public is invited to a lecture that will discuss and question the fate of the universe led by Bahram Mashhoon, University of Missouri physics professor, at the October installment of the monthly Cosmic Conversation lecture series.
The Cosmic Conversations lecture series is hosted by the University of Missouri Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Laws Observatory and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association.
Designated by the United Nations, the International Year of Astronomy (IYA 2009) celebrates the 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope of Galileo Galilei and the publication of Astronomia nova by Johannes Kepler.
WHO: Mashhoon, who has studied Einstein’s theory of relativity as well as relativistic astrophysics, cosmology and the theory of gravitation, will lead the lecture.
WHERE: Room 120, Physics Building, MU Campus
Laws Observatory is located on the fifth floor of the Physics Building.
WHEN: Discussion: 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 7.
Observatory Hours: 8 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays.
