MU to Host Public Affairs Lecture on Leadership

WHAT: The University of Missouri Truman School Of Public Affairs and the MU Graduate School will host the 2009 Monroe-Paine Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs. Brigadier General Edward C. Cardon will present, “Cultivating Agile and Adaptive Leaders.”
WHO: Cardon is the deputy commandant for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, which educates leaders for joint, interagency and multinational operations. Cardon also is the deputy commanding general for the Combined Arms Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Cardon has served in Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iraq. He earned master’s degrees from the National War College and the United States Naval Command and Staff College, both in National Security and Strategic Studies. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

NOTE: The Monroe-Paine Distinguished Lecture in Public Affairs was established by a gift from Frederick Middlebush, the 12th president of MU. The series brings leading policy experts to the MU campus to give a public lecture, conduct a research seminar and meet with students and faculty.
