Has the Universe Been Made for Us?

MU will discuss multiverses and whether the universe was made to support life on earth.

WHAT: The public is invited to the May installment of Cosmic Conversations with a lecture called “Anthropic Principle and Multiverses: Has the universe been made for us?” After the lecture, the public is invited to view constellations from the Laws Observatory.

The Cosmic Conversations lecture series is hosted by the University Of Missouri Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Laws Observatory and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association.

WHO: Carsten Ullrich, an associate professor from the Department of Physic and Astronomy and director of Graduate Studies, will lecture on the anthropic principle, the idea that the universe is compatible for life on earth and multiverses (multiple universes).

WHERE: Room 120, Physics Building, MU Campus

Laws Observatory is located on the fifth floor of the Physics Building.

WHEN: Discussion: 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 5.

Observatory Hours: 8 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays.
