MU, Boone County Officials Train Poll Workers to Serve Voters With Disabilities

WHAT: The Institute of Public Policy (IPP) in the Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri and the MU Office of Disability Services is partnering with Boone County officials to conduct training for new poll workers to prepare for the Aug. 3 primary election. This service is funded by a grant from the United State Election Assistance Commission.
WHO: Matt Buckley, a coordinator of student services in the MU Office of Disability Services, will speak about his experiences as a voter with a disability and discuss general etiquette and suggestions for working with individuals with disabilities.
“These events are important because IPP and the Boone County Clerk are committed to making sure that the election process is efficient for all voters, especially voters with disabilities,” said Emily Johnson, a coordinator at the Institute of Public Policy. “We are committed to providing opportunities for individuals to participate in the election process as poll workers. Poll workers can then use the information presented to help make the polling places in Boone County a welcoming place for all voters.”
