MEDIA ADVISORY: Tiger Avenue Celebration at MU

New street signs to be unveiled

WHAT: Campus and community leaders will celebrate a new name for one of Mizzou’s main campus thoroughfares. Maryland Avenue will now be known as Tiger Avenue to reflect school spirit. Street signs with the new moniker will be unveiled at the ceremony.

MU Chancellor Brady Deaton said the new street name is an important way of reinforcing Tiger pride for MU students, faculty, visitors and alumni.

The new Tiger Avenue links MU’s athletic fields to its academic center at Jesse Hall. MU mascot Truman the Tiger and the Mizzou cheerleaders will be at the Tiger Avenue Celebration as well.

  • Mizzou Alumni Association President Randy Wright
  • Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid
  • Mizzou Alumni Association Student Board President Justin Yeater

WHERE: Reynolds Alumni Center, MU Campus
