MEDIA ADVISORY: Clinical Research Vital to Medical Advancements

MU School of Medicine to host clinical research education session

WHAT: Clinical research is an important step as medical advancements move from the laboratory to the market, where patients can benefit from new treatments and medications. The University of Missouri School of Medicine is participating in the first National Clinical Research Education Day by hosting a viewing of a national webcast, “Aware for All.” The presentation aims to inform and educate people on aspects of participating in clinical research.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from people who have participated in clinical research, as well as understand the safety, benefits and risks of participation. School of Medicine staff also will present information about the importance of clinical trials, as well as questions people should ask their doctors prior to participating in clinical research.
