MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host International(ist) Showcase

November 8th, 2010

Story Contact: Emily Martin, (573) 882-3346, martinem@missouri.edu

WHAT: University of Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton will give the opening presentation at MU’s first International(ist) Showcase. The showcase, hosted by the vice provost for international programs, invites faculty members to share international aspects of their work with the MU community. The goal is to expand opportunities for students, faculty and staff members to develop international perspectives on campus, as well as abroad.

The showcase will reinforce MU’s appreciation and commitment to faculty members and staff members who introduce international elements into their work. Presentations will highlight role models of international activities in education, research, service and economic development, and encourage others to incorporate international activities into their careers.

Presentations include a discussion on how to access resources and personal accounts from experienced MU internationalists.

WHO: The showcase will feature members of the MU community who work in the international arena and collaborate with other countries or counterparts and colleagues from another country. These internationalists use their ties abroad to strengthen research, outreach, teaching and economic development at the university.

WHERE: Stotler Lounge, Memorial Union, MU Campus

WHEN: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Nov. 8 (Chancellor Deaton will speak at 9:30 a.m.)
