MEDIA ADVISORY: MU School of Law Hosts Symposium
Law Experts Discuss Court’s Role in Policy and Practice

WHAT: The University of Missouri School of Law will host a symposium, “Evolving the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and its Patent Law Jurisprudence.”
Law experts will explore the ongoing role of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit as a developer of patent law policy, the structure of the Court and its jurisprudential approach, the role of the Court relative to other potential policymaking bodies, and the Court’s impact on innovation and in shaping the practice of law.
“At a time when patent law is crucially important to American innovation and technological advances, we are pleased to sponsor this national symposium,” said Larry Dessem, MU School of Law dean.
The Missouri Law Review is sponsoring the symposium. First published in 1936, the Review is run by University of Missouri School of Law students and is one of the oldest legal publications west of the Mississippi River.
WHO: David Kappos, the Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, will deliver the keynote address. Dennis Crouch, an MU associate law professor, will moderate the event as leading professors and patent lawyers from across the country present.
WHEN: The symposium begins at 8:15 a.m., Friday, February 25.
WHERE: John K. Hulston Hall, MU Campus.
