MEDIA ADVISORY: Saturday Morning Science to Discuss Climate and What Scientists Can Learn from Fossils

WHAT: This week’s Saturday Morning Science discussion features Edie Taylor, professor of paleobotany at the University of Kansas, who will discuss “The Lush Vegetation of Antarctica: Understanding Ancient Climate from Fossil Plants.”

Today, Antarctica is the coldest, highest and driest continent, but 200 million years ago it was covered in lush vegetation. Taylor will discuss what scientists can tell from fossils recovered from Antarctica about the ancient organisms and climate that characterized its ancient past.
