MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Professor to Discuss “Heart Attacks and Surprising Ways You Might Avoid Them” at MU Saturday Morning Science Lecture

WHAT: This week’s Saturday Morning Science discussion features Chris Baines, University of Missouri assistant professor of biomedical sciences, who will discuss how to have a healthy heart and avoid heart attacks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death in America for both men and women. Every year, more than 785,000 Americans will have their first heart attack while 470,000 others will suffer another one.

Beyond learning how to avoid a heart attack, Baines also will discuss some surprising ways to keep the heart healthy and what behaviors affect this critical muscle.
