MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Tigers for Tigers to Host 2nd Annual Doggie Play Day

WHAT:  The University of Missouri Tigers for Tigers organization, which works to raise awareness of the endangered status of tigers across the world, will host its second annual “Doggie Play Day” event.

Tigers for Tigers will partner with Columbia Second Chance Animal Rescue to bring dogs to campus. For $3, individuals can “rent” the dog of their choice for 15 minutes of play time. All proceeds will benefit tiger awareness projects.

NOTE:  Mizzou Tigers for Tigers was created in 1999 as the nation’s first tiger mascot conservation program. Faculty, staff, students and alumni from several colleges, schools and departments, including agriculture, food and natural resources; fisheries and wildlife; veterinary medicine; journalism; biological sciences; environmental studies; the International Center; University Affairs; Alumni Relations; Development; and Intercollegiate Athletics work together to guarantee that there will be wild tigers as long as there are Mizzou Tigers.

The Mizzou Tigers for Tigers student chapter raises awareness about the endangered status Mizzou’s mascot. The student chapter also works with schools and raises funds to aid wild tiger populations while giving students a chance to experience the challenges faced by small conservation groups tackling global problems.
