MEDIA ADVISORY: Are Neanderthals Really Gone?

MU professor of anthropology will discuss the mystery behind the species

WHAT: Libby Cowgill, MU assistant professor of anthropology, will discuss the disappearance of humanity’s closest relative, the Neanderthal, at this week’s University of Missouri Saturday Morning Science talk.

Cowgill will look at how, why and when the Neanderthals disappeared. In her talk, “The Neanderthal enigma: where did they go, and how do we know what we know?” Cowgill will tackle the ongoing scientific debate about whether humanity’s closest evolutionary relative is actually gone.

Saturday Morning Science talks require no scientific background or knowledge to attend. The lecture is free and open to the public.
