MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Professor to Discuss New Advances in Stem Cell Research

WHAT:  Recent scientific advances are changing the way society views stem cells. At this week’s Saturday Morning Science talk, Mark Kirk, a professor of biological sciences at the University of Missouri, will discuss the different sources of stem cells available to scientists who are working to develop cures for human diseases. In his talk, “Why aren’t stem cells created equal?,” Kirk also will discuss whether newer sources of stem cells are safe and how they compare to embryonic stem cells.

Saturday Morning Science talks require no scientific background or knowledge to attend. The event is free and open to the public.
