MEDIA ADVISORY: Trayvon Martin Legal Implications to be Discussed by MU Law Panel

WHAT:          
The University of Missouri School of Law and the MU Difficult Dialogues Program will host a panel discussing the many aspects of the recent Trayvon Martin case. MU experts in law, psychology and the media will participate in the “Implications of the Death of Trayvon Martin.”

The panel will discuss issues including: Florida’s “Stand Your Ground Law”, general self-defense law, social psychology of racial bias, and how media coverage affected the Trayvon Martin case.

David Mitchell, associate professor of law at the MU School of Law

Bruce Bartholow, associate professor of psychological sciences at MU

Kent Collins, associate professor and chair of radio-television journalism at MU

Roger Worthington, professor of counseling psychology & higher education at MU, will moderate the panel.
