MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Stop Traffic Hosts Conference to Raise Awareness About Modern-Day Slavery

WHAT:
University of Missouri Stop Traffic, a student-led, anti-human trafficking organization, will host an all-day conference to raise awareness about human trafficking.

A modern-day form of slavery, human trafficking is illegal and refers to trading or selling individuals for sexual exploitation or forced labor.

Events at the 2012 Stop Traffic Now Conference will include presentations by guest speakers, panel discussions and a viewing of “Call + Response,” an award-winning documentary that highlights human trafficking in the United States and internationally.

Mike McGraw, an investigative reporter for the Kansas City Star and Pulitzer Prize-winning MU alumnus, will provide the keynote address. McGraw recently contributed to an exposé of human trafficking in the United States.
