MEDIA ADVISORY: Featured Speaker Glenn Greenwald and Panelists to Discuss the Differential Treatment of Various Groups Under the U.S. Justice System

WHAT: The University of Missouri School of Law will host a featured speaker, Glen Greenwald, a bestselling author of four books including “With Liberty and Justice for Some: How the Law Is Used to Destroy Equality and Protect the Powerful.” Greenwald will comment on the differential treatment of various groups under the U.S. justice system followed by a panel discussion exploring the topic further.

The panel will feature other law experts and members of affected communities in the U.S.

The event is co-sponsored by a collective of national and local community organizations, including the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms, the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Missouri Association of Social Welfare as well as various MU departments and programs, including Women and Gender Studies, Black Studies, Peace Studies and the Chancellor’s Diversity Initiative.

WHO: Glen Greenwald, bestselling author of four books, attorney and writer for The Guardian.

Other panelists include:

  • Eduardo Crespi, executive director of People’s Diner in Columbia, Mo.
  • Steve Downs, executive director of the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms
  • Amany Ragab Hacking, assistant clinical professor of law at St. Louis University and co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
  • Redditt Hudson, former officer in the St. Louis Metropolitan Police
