MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Announce Tobacco Use Policy Change

WHAT: A significant announcement regarding the University of Missouri policy on on-campus tobacco use will occur during the 2012 Great American Smoke Out, an annual event that encourages smokers to make plans to quit.
“MU officials are committed to making campus a healthy place to work, live and learn. Smoke-free policies reduce exposure to secondhand smoke, improve student and employee health, and reduce litter on campus,” said Kevin Everett, associate professor in the MU School of Medicine. • Jose Belardo, regional health administrator, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

• Laura Schopp, professor in the MU School of Health Professions and director of the Healthy for Life: T.E. Atkins University of Missouri Wellness Program
• A representative from the MU Student Health Center
