CANCELED: MU Hosts Harvard Expert for Public Health Lecture

UPDATE: Due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances, David Williams has canceled his visit to MU.
WHAT: The University of Missouri School of Health Professions (SHP) is hosting David Williams, a public health professor at Harvard University, for a lecture about the social influences on health called, “Making America Healthier: What Can Each of Us Do?”
“The University of Missouri and the School of Health Professions have a stake in improving the overall health paradigm in our community,” said SHP Dean Richard Oliver. “David Williams can help us learn to better answer complex public health questions and understand what each of us can do to improve our community’s health and well-being.”
WHO: Williams is the Florence and Laura Norman Professor of Public Health and a professor of African and African-American studies and of sociology at Harvard University. He has authored more than 260 scholarly papers and is among the top 10 most cited researchers in social sciences. He has served on the Department of Health and Human Services’ National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics and on seven panels for the Institute of Medicine.
