MEDIA ADVISORY: MU School of Law to Host Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Symposium

WHAT:
Litigation costs for patent disputes regularly exceed $10 million in contested cases, and legal proceedings can last for years. This year’s Journal of Dispute Resolution symposium, “Resolving IP Disputes: Calling for an Alternative Paradigm,” hosted by the University of Missouri School of Law, will explore alternative ways for resolving patent disputes and proactively transforming disputes into cooperative business arrangements. MU is home to the award-winning Center for Dispute Resolution, which is consistently recognized as one of the best centers in the nation.

WHO:
The keynote address will be delivered by Greg Gorder, founder and vice chairman of Intellectual Ventures, the owner and licenser of one of the world’s largest and fastest growing intellectual property portfolios.

Numerous intellectual property and dispute resolution experts who will be discussing industry-focused disputes, practical issues of resolving disputes before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the role of public transparency in the intellectual property system.
