MEDIA ADVISORY: MU’s “Cosmic Conversations” Continues this Month with Discussion of Neutron Scattering

WHAT: December’s “Cosmic Conversations” will focus on neutron scattering and other techniques used to advance researchers’ understanding of complex materials. In his lecture, “Applications of neutron scattering and the techniques used to advance our understanding of complex materials,” Zack Buck, a graduate student in MU’s College of Arts and Science, will introduce attendees to the concepts surrounding the importance of neutron scattering and how it relates to studying many complex systems. In particular, he will discuss the application of neutron scattering and how it relates to the understanding of biological phenomena.

The University of Missouri Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Arts and Science and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association host the monthly lecture series, “Cosmic Conversations.”

Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of each month. Laws Observatory, on the fifth floor of the physics building, is open after each lecture so that attendees may view the stars (weather permitting).
