MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Celebrates 175th Birthday with Kickoff Party

WHAT: This year marks the 175th anniversary of the University of Missouri’s founding on Feb. 11, 1839. The university community will begin its celebration by hosting an official kickoff party with a brief program, giveaways and birthday cake. The event is free and open to the public.
WHO: Speakers and performers include:
- R. Bowen Loftin, MU chancellor
- Gary Link, special assistant to the MU athletic director
- Jake Wright, Graduate Professional Council president
- Mason Schara, Missouri Students Association president
- Mini Mizzou and Truman the Tiger
WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 11, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Scheduled program begins at 11 a.m.)
WHERE: First floor, MU Student Center, MU campus
