MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host Archaeology Lecture on Greek Myths and Their Influence on Italian Art

WHAT: The Archaeological Institute of America Central Missouri Society and the University of Missouri will host Tom Carpenter, Charles J. Ping Professor of Humanities and Distinguished Professor of Classics at Ohio University, who will present “Unexpected Choices: Greek Myth in Italic Imagery in the 4th Century BCE.”

Sponsored by the Department of Art History and Archaeology in the College of Arts and Science at MU, Carpenter’s presentation will explore what the non-Greek peoples of the ancient Mediterranean knew about Greek myths and literature and how images of Greek myths appear on vases and other artifacts.
