MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host Lecture on How Public Policy Shaped Events in Ferguson and its Lasting Effects on American Cities

WHAT: The University of Missouri will host Colin Gordon, professor of history at the University of Iowa, who will present “The Fire This Time: Ferguson, St. Louis and the Fate of the American City.”
Sponsored by the Chancellor’s Diversity Initiative and the departments of history, English, geography, religious studies and the Kinder Forum on Constitutional Democracy in the College of Arts and Science at MU, Gordon’s presentation will explore the protests in Ferguson and how responses will influence planning and public policy in St. Louis, the state and elsewhere.
Gordon also serves as a researcher for the Public Policy Center Social Science Policy group, and is a senior research consultant with the Iowa Policy Project. His research and teaching interests focus on the history of public policy in the United States.
