WHAT: Officials at the University of Missouri and the Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA) will dedicate Traditions Plaza in honor of MU’s 175th anniversary. The new plaza is an outdoor amphitheater that will provide a gathering and programming space for use by MU students, faculty, staff, visitors and alumni. Activities held on the plaza will include concerts, spirit rallies and outdoor classes. Notable quotations and depictions of MU traditions, such as Homecoming and Tiger Walk, engraved on the stage and pillars of the plaza celebrate Mizzou’s heritage.

Alumni, students, faculty, staff, fans and friends can make their mark on Mizzou history as well by purchasing bricks inscribed with their names. Donors have the option of placing their bricks on the main stage of the plaza or in the “Legacy Circle” in the top row of the amphitheater seating, if they are from a legacy family, which are families with more than one generation of Mizzou alumni. Proceeds from the brick sales will help fund some of MU’s cherished traditions, such as the Mizzou Alumni Association’s student scholarship program.
