WHAT: Science Café Columbia continues its mission to inspire informal, relaxed conversations about popular science topics. This month, Matthew J. Will, associate professor of psychological sciences in the College of Arts and Science at MU, will discuss “Addictive Eating” or how eating calorie-rich foods releases brain chemicals similar to those driving drug addiction.
An offshoot of an international movement started by PBS’ “NOVA,” Science Café is a grassroots forum that takes place in a neighborhood coffeehouse, library or bar. Meant to include members of the community who may not normally get involved in the science conversation, the Bond Life Science Center sponsors Science Café Columbia as a means of nurturing a two-way conversation between scientists and the public.
WHERE: Broadway Brewery, 816 E. Broadway, Columbia
WHEN: 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 10
NOTE: This event is free and open to the public. For more information about Science Café, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/ScienceCafeColumbia.
