MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host Symposium on Events in Ferguson

WHAT: The Missouri Law Review at the University of Missouri School of Law will host a symposium, “Policing, Protesting and Perceptions: A Critical Examination of Events in Ferguson.” The symposium will address complex issues that have arisen following the events in Ferguson including the militarization of police, racial profiling and peaceful protests impaired by violence and looting.
The Missouri Law Review is an entirely student-run publication and one of the oldest legal publications west of the Mississippi River.
WHO: Marc Mauer, executive director of the Sentencing Project, will deliver the keynote address, “Ferguson as a Window on Race and the Justice System.” The Sentencing Project is a non-profit organization focused on promoting reforms in sentencing policies and addressing unjust racial disparities.
