MEDIA ADVISORY: Physician and Fitness Expert to Lecture, Lead Exercise Bootcamp

WHAT: The MU Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology will host Dr. Jordan Metzl, an MU alumnus, physician and fitness expert. He will deliver a lecture titled “Current Trends in Sports Medicine, Fitness and Health: How to be Your Best Athlete at Any Age” before leading an exercise bootcamp.

WHO: Metzl is a sports medicine physician at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He is the bestselling author of “Running Strong, Exercise Cure” and the “Athlete’s Book of Home Remedies” as well as a 32-time marathon runner and a 12-time Ironman triathlete. Metzl is also the creator of the Ironstrength workout, which teaches people to strengthen their muscles to prevent injury and improve sports performance.

NOTE: The events are free and open to the public, but registration is recommended for the bootcamp.

The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology is jointly administered by the College of
Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, the College of Human Environmental Sciences and the
School of Medicine.
