UPDATED CALENDAR ITEM: Professor of Religious Studies to Deliver 2015 Rufus Monroe and Sofie Hougaard Paine Lecture

WHAT: Professor and author Kelly Hayes will deliver the Department of Religious Studies 2015 Rufus Monroe and Sofie Hougaard Paine Lecture at the University of Missouri. Hayes will draw from her work in Brazil and her expertise in ritual, religion and Afro-Brazilian studies in her lecture “Intergalactic Space-Time Traveler: Envisioning the New Age in Brazil’s Valley of the Dawn.”
WHO: Kelly Hayes is an associate professor of religious studies and an adjunct associate professor of women’s and Africana studies at Indiana University-Indianapolis. In 2012, she received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant to study Brazil’s Valley of the Dawn, a religious movement in Brazil that contains elements of Christianity, Spiritism, mysticism, Afro-Brazilian religions, ancient Egyptian beliefs and flying saucers.
