CALENDAR ITEM: MU Hosting Summer Leadership Academy for Middle School Students

WHAT: The University of Missouri, Truman School of Public Affairs will host a one-week summer day camp, the Truman Leadership Academy, to engage adolescents in civic and community service. The Academy is for middle school students and will include leadership training, service projects and other community engagement opportunities for students.
This year’s camp will feature a community service project, guests from the White House Decision Center, and a visit to the Capitol and the Supreme Court of Missouri, among other activities.
WHO: Participants include youth entering the sixth, seventh or eighth grades. Up to 40 students will be selected on a first come, first serve basis.
WHEN: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Monday, July 18- Friday, July 22
WHERE: MU campus
NOTE: To register for the camp, visit: trumanleadership.org. The cost to attend is $60 and should be paid by July 1, the last day to register. A full refund will be issued to those cancelling before July 15. A limited number of scholarships are available. Lunches and snacks will be provided.
