MEDIA ADVISORY: University of Missouri to Host Internationally Renowned Gender Violence Activist

WHAT: In recognition of the White Ribbon Campaign, the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Center at the University of Missouri will hold a week of events to raise awareness of men’s role in antiviolence activism, featuring keynote lecturer Jackson Katz.
The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement seeking to promote healthy relationships, gender equity and a compassionate vision of masculinity. Throughout the week, the RSVP Center and Interfraternity Council Peer Educators will host programming focused on raising awareness, increasing education and providing service to our campus and community.
WHO: Jackson Katz is internationally renowned for his activism on issues of gender and violence and is a major figure in the growing global movement of men working to promote gender equality and prevent gender violence.
Katz is co-founder of Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), one of the longest-running and most widely influential gender violence prevention programs in North America, and the first major program of its kind in sports culture and the military.
In addition, Katz is the author of two critically acclaimed books, numerous academic and journalistic articles and is the creator, lead writer and narrator of the award-winning “Tough Guise” documentary videos.
