April 14th, 2017

Story Contact: Liz McCune, 573-882-6212, mccunee@missouri.edu

WHAT: The University of Missouri will hold the 90th annual Tap Day ceremony on Friday, April 14. Prior to the ceremony, a small group of students are selected or “tapped” by their peers to join one of the university’s six secret honorary societies. Students are chosen based on their commitment to service, leadership and the Mizzou community.

The names of these inductees remain anonymous throughout the application, selection and initiation process, but are revealed to their family and friends as part of the Tap Day ceremony. In addition, many of the secret societies will give an honorary tap to a faculty or staff member whom they feel has significantly contributed to the experience of students at MU.

WHO: The event is free and open to the MU community.

WHEN: 2 p.m. Friday, April 14

WHERE: Jesse Auditorium, Jesse Hall
