University of Missouri invites the public to the St. Louis Storytelling Festival
The weeklong festival will be celebrating its 40th anniversary

WHAT:
Now in its 40th year, the St. Louis Storytelling Festival will celebrate the art and power of stories with more than 55 events. The festival is organized by the University of Missouri Extension Community Arts Program.
The multi day festival, held at multiple venues across the region, will feature storytellers from around the world as well as regional storytellers from St. Louis and other parts of Missouri and the region.
Featured events include:
- Forged in the Stars (April 26) – Jay O’Callahan will share the captivating fictional story that captures the heart of NASA and its unending passion for exploration and discovery during a special event at the Kranzberg Arts Center Studio
- A Storytelling Retrospective (April 29) – storytelling performances, conversation and show-and-tell with local storytelling legends Bobby Norfolk, Sue Hinkel, Annette Harrison and Lynn Rubright
- African-American Stories from Missouri (May 3) – storytellers Angela Williams and Gladys Coggswell share their own stories, as well as stories collected from Missouri’s African-American communities
- Storytelling Festival Grand Finale Showcase (May 4) – featured storytellers will perform their signature stories during the finale event
Several storytelling sessions, activities and workshops for all ages will be offered throughout the festival.
