COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri officials announced today that the university will be open tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 6, for all regularly scheduled operations. Officials warn faculty, students, staff and visitors to use caution while moving on campus as slick spots remain due to the extreme cold temperatures. Anyone driving to campus should plan ahead, leave early and allow plenty of time for travel.

Crews from campus facilities, residential life, MU Health Care and intercollegiate athletics have been working since Tuesday evening to prepare the campus. Currently, roads and sidewalks have been plowed, but covered areas and slick spots remain.

“The campus is passable, but pedestrians and drivers should proceed cautiously on all pavements as there will be slick spots in many areas,” said Gary Ward, interim vice chancellor of administrative services. “Given the cold conditions, everyone should dress appropriately, wearing the proper winter footwear, and take care moving about on the campus.”

“We have received reports that our students and others on campus have remained safe and warm,” MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin said. “Our thanks goes out to the hundreds of staff who have worked many hours to make that happen.”
