Statement from MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin
March 18th, 2015
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Based on the information available to me, and in accordance with the University of Missouri’s Student Conduct Code (as outlined in the Collected Rules and Regulations, Chapter 200), I have determined it is in the best interest of the university community to temporarily suspend a student who has been identified by University of Missouri Police as the student who allegedly made harassing and hostile remarks aimed at another Mizzou student. The remarks were related to the recent discussion concerning the showing of the movie, “American Sniper” on campus. This student will be suspended until the formal student conduct process is complete.
At the conclusion of the student conduct process, the temporary suspension will be lifted and a final sanction imposed. The process can be found beginning on page 17 of the student “M” Book, the university’s official rules and regulations governing students: http://conduct.missouri.edu/wp-content/uploads/M-Book-2014-2015-Final-Draft-4.0-1-1.pdf
