University of Missouri officials announced today that the person who disrupted the Legion of Black Collegians (LBC) Royalty Court rehearsal early Monday morning, making racist remarks, has been identified. The individual has been moved from campus by the Office of Student Conduct pending the outcome of the conduct process.

“We would like to thank the members of the LBC Royalty Court and others present for supporting each other and immediately reporting this behavior to MUPD,” said Cathy Scroggs, vice chancellor for Student Affairs. “Because our students were willing to speak with MUPD, the police were able to obtain information critical to identifying the responsible individual.”

“Racism and all prejudice is heinous, insidious and damaging to Mizzou,” Provost Garnett Stokes said. “It hurts students’ education and experience including their mental health and academic achievement.  That is why all of us must commit to changing the culture at this university.”
