COLUMBIA, Mo. — Due to predicted snow, sleet and ice creating slick surfaces on sidewalks and roads, University of Missouri officials have announced a 10 a.m. delayed start for Wednesday, Feb. 20. Normal operations will be suspended between 12:01 a.m. and 9:59 a.m., and will resume at 10 a.m. The delay affects all operations for both the UM System and MU; classes will begin at 10 a.m. Only employees who are situationally critical should report for work prior to 10 a.m.

“Delaying the start of full operations until 10 a.m. will give us the extra time that our crews need to make sure campus is ready,” said Gary Ward, vice chancellor for operations. “As I’ve stated before, this very unusual winter weather has created a lot of challenges for our campus this year. We are very grateful to our employees who have worked during these closures to ensure our campus remains safe.”

All MU Health Care hospitals and the Veterinary Health Center Hospital will remain open 24/7. For more information on MU Health Care, please click here.

Campus Dining Services will keep all residential and select retail locations open, although hours may be limited at certain locations.

Employees should check with their supervisors who will identify those needed to fulfill critical duties. Details about closure policies for MU and the UM System can be found here.

Employees and students are expected to exercise judgment regarding their ability to travel safely to campus when inclement weather is in the area.
