MEDIA ADVISORY: MU to Host First Missouri Technology Expo

WHAT: The University of Missouri will host the first Missouri Technology Expo 2010. The expo will highlight a broad array of technology-related fields through interactive activities, poster displays and speakers.

Organizers hope the expo will encourage scientific advancements, innovation and learning as well as create awareness of academic research occurring in Missouri. The expo is meant to stimulate collaborations between research and technology development in Missouri. By bringing together companies searching for new products and researchers, they hope to stimulate investment and commercialization in Missouri technologies.  

WHO: The MU Office of Technology Management and Industrial Relations (OTMIR) will co-host the event with the MU Office of Research, the University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (UCIE) and the Columbia Regional Economic Development, Inc. (REDI).

The expo will feature keynote speaker, Stephen Padgette, the vice president for biotechnology at Monsanto, a large agricultural biotechnology corporation headquartered in Missouri.
