MEDIA ADVISORY: Officials from USDA, MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources to Announce Major Grant

WHAT: Officials from the University of Missouri and the U. S. Department of Agriculture will announce two major grants. Researchers from the University of Missouri and Texas A&M University will lead the research.
WHO: Speakers include:
- Roger Beachy, director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture at the USDA
- U.S. Senator Roy Blunt
- Tom Payne, dean of the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
- Jerry Taylor, Wurdack Chair in Animal Genomics in the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
- Rod Geisert, professor and director of the Division of Animal Sciences at MU
- Marc Linit, associate dean for research and extension
WHEN: 11 a.m., Friday, April 15
WHERE: Beef Research and Teaching Farm, 5151 Old Millers Rd. (off of Highway 63, south of Columbia) From Highway 63:
If traveling from Columbia, go south on Highway 63, turn left onto Old Millers Road (just south of KOMU-TV) and follow signs to the farm.
If traveling from Jefferson City, go north on Highway 63, turn right on Old Millers Road (just before KOMU-TV) and follow signs to the farm.
NOTE: Tours of the Beef Research and Teaching Farm will be available before and after the announcement.
