MEDIA ADISVORY: MU to Host Conversation with Chocolate Manufacturer and Social Entrepreneur

WHAT: Askinosie Chocolate is named among the best chocolate in the U.S. by Food and Wine Magazine. The company’s creator, Shawn Askinosie, who received a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from MU, has been recognized for sourcing 100 percent of his products directly from farmers. In addition to his work to empower farmers, Askinosie involves students in his business and undertakes community development projects across the world. In his lecture, Askinosie will discuss his motivation for transitioning from his law practice to small business and his fair-trade business model, as well as the company’s farmer partners and its community engagement.
Askinosie recently was named by O, The Oprah Magazine as “One of 15 Guys Who Are Saving the World.”
